Carcassonne 1

We stopped at the medieval city of Carcassonne for lunch and a bit of touring. The last 3 pictures are the Cathedral of St. Nazaire and St. Celse.

The area was founded in 118 BC as a Roman Colony. The wall was constructed in the 3rd Century AD. The land changed hands many times landing with the Arabs in 725 with Franks taking it back in 750. The Count's Castle was built in 1130. The Cathedral was consecrated in 1150.
